You can move opportunities to the previous stage of the sales cycle they follow, for example, if you have moved them to the next stage too soon, or if a stage needs to be repeated.

You can move an opportunity back to the previous stage from the Opportunity List window. Depending on where you access the Opportunity List window from, the window shows opportunities for either contacts, campaigns, or salespeople. The following procedure shows how to move an opportunity to the previous stage from the Salesperson/Purchaser card.

To move an opportunity to a previous stage

  1. In the Search box, enter Salespeople, and then choose the related link.

  2. Select the salesperson responsible for the opportunity.

  3. On the Navigate tab, in the Salesperson group, choose Opportunities, and then choose List.

  4. In the Opportunity List window, on the Actions tab, in the Functions group, choose Update. The Update Opportunity wizard opens.

  5. In the first window of the wizard, select the option Previous, and choose the Next button.

If you want to move the opportunity to another previous stage, select the Jump option.

  6. In the second window of the wizard, select the new sales cycle stage you want to move the opportunity to.

  7. Fill in the other windows of the wizard to specify new information about the opportunity.
The Date, Estimated Value (LCY), Chance of Success (%), and Estimated Closing Date fields are required and must be filled in before you choose the Next or Finish buttons.

  8. After you have entered all the necessary information, choose the Finish button.
