When you create a service order for a service item, you can associate the service work with a resource. When you post the service order, the hours that you allocate to the resource are reflected automatically on a time sheet for the resource. The information in the time sheet cannot be edited.

To integrate resource hours on a service order with a time sheet

  1. Create a new service order.

  2. On the service lines, add a service item. On the Lines toolbar, choose the Line menu, and then choose Resource Allocations.

  3. Choose the Resource No. field and then enter a resource number. Choose the OK button.

  4. Choose the Order menu, and then choose Service Lines.

  5. In the Service Lines window, choose the Type field, and select a type of resource.

  6. In the No. field, select a resource.

    In the Quantity field, enter the number of hours.

    In the Qty. to Consume field, enter the number of hours that you want to show as consumed when you post the order.

    Choose the OK button.

  7. In the service order window, confirm that the response date is one for which there is a time sheet.

  8. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Post, and then select the appropriate option.

  9. To review the posting information as reflected in the time sheet, open the time sheet that contains the date that you performed the posting.

    The time sheet contains an approved time sheet line for the service order. The line consists of the resource name in the Description field and the number of hours posted from the service order. The time usage is recorded for the posting date.

    Note
    The line has the status Approved, and you cannot reopen it or submit it.
