Specifies how many units of the sales line quantity that you want to supply by assembly.

If the assembly item on the sales order line is set up to be assembled to order, then a linked assembly order is automatically created, and the value in this field reflects the value in the Quantity field on that linked assembly order header.

You define an item’s assembly process in the Assembly Policy field on the item card of the assembly item.

Additional Information

It is usually only relevant to modify this field when you are combining assemble-to-order and inventory quantities on the same sales order line. For example, you can reduce the value in the Qty. to Ship field when a part of the quantity is available in inventory and you only want to supply the unavailable quantity by assembly. For more information, see How to: Sell Inventory Items in Assemble-to-Order Flows. You can also add or increase the value in the Qty. to Ship field if you decide during a regular sale from inventory that you want to supply an outstanding quantity by assembly. For more information, see How to: Sell Assemble-to-Order Items and Inventory Items Together.

Note
Certain rules apply if you modify the Quantity to Assemble field on the linked assembly order so that it deviates from the Qty. to Ship field on the sales order line. For more information, see the "Combination Scenarios" section in Assemble to Order or Assemble to Stock.

Inventory pick lines are created in different ways depending on whether none, some, or all of the sales line quantities are assembled to order. For more information, see the "Pick and Ship Items Assembled to Sales Orders" section in Inventory Pick.
