Specifies a cost entry when you post to a cost type, a cost center, or a cost object. You can see the cost entry from the chart of cost types, the chart of cost centers, or the chart of cost objects. You cannot change the contents of the fields in the table because the entries have been posted.

Cost entries can be the result of a transfer from general ledger entries, cost allocations, and manually created and posted cost entries in cost journals.

During the transfer from general ledger entries, for each cost entry, the entry number of the corresponding general ledger entry is saved in the G/L Entry No. field. The G/L Account field contains the number of the general ledger account that the cost entry came from. For single entries, the posting text from the general ledger entry is transferred to the Description field. Combined entries are specially marked in the Description field. For example, for a combined entry for the month of October in 2012, the text might be Entries, October 2012.
