To display the G/L Account Balance window, from the Chart of Accounts window, click Related Information, Balance, G/L Account Balance. The window shows a scrollable summary of the debit and credit balances for different time periods, for the account you select in the chart of accounts.

In the Closing Entries field, you can select whether or not the account balance shown will include closing entries.

You can select different time intervals in the View by field. Accounting periods are set up in the Accounting Period table.

Placing a check mark in the Debit & Credits Total field will indicate that totals for both are displayed.

In the View as field, you can select one of the following options to determine what type of amount will be shown in the columns: Net Change or Balance at Date.

The Net Change feature displays the net change in the amounts for each period.

The Balance at Date feature displays the amounts on the last day in each period.

You can also enter dimension values that the program will use to filter the information in the window. For more information about dimensions, see Dimension.

The columns in the window display the following information:

Column Description

Period Start

This column shows the start of the period shown on the line.

Period Name

This column shows the name of the period shown on the line.

Debit Amount

This column shows the debit amount for the period on the line.

Credit Amount

This column shows the credit amount for the period on the line.
